We are committed to reforesting our planet
The carbon footprint of our business must be tackled, and we need to propose concrete action for reducing it.
THE ORIGINS OF THE PROJECT
Beyond the measures we have implemented in our work at Château Fleur Cardinale to reduce our impact on the environment, and importantly in our search to preserve and favour biodiversity, we are seeking to make an even firmer commitment to reduce our carbon footprint.
While our long-distance journeys across the world are essential for the vibrancy of our business, they are not without impact on the environment. Rather than seeing the world just from the angle of our wine estate, we prefer to consider that we only have one planet and that we should do what we can to help protect it.
OUR COMMITMENT WITH REFOREST'ACTION
In March 2020, we got involved with Reforest’Action, a social-purpose company, whose first mission is to create awareness of and act on behalf of the world’s forests.
With them, we have therefore committed that, from the 2019 vintage onwards, each case sold will allow the planting of one tree, i.e. an average of 10,000 trees planted per year.
THE PROJECT IN TANZANIA
These trees have been planted in Tanzania as part of a programme that is helping to restore biodiversity in the Usambara Mountains, one of the world’s biodiversity hotspots.

SOME KEY FIGURES
10,000 trees planted means :
- 1,500 tons of CO2 stored
- 30,000 animal shelters created
- 40,000 months of oxygen generated
- 10,000 hours of work for local employment
THE PROJECT IN PERU
In 2021, following a request from Reforest’Action, we have moved our reforestation program to the north of Peru, in the San Martin region. This program participates in planting trees of various species in agroforestry within the Amazonian forest.
