CLIMATOLOGY
The winter of 2023 saw a period of cool weeks, with little rain from mid-January onwards. The buds gently burst at the end of March without any real fear of the frost, which was short and early. In spring, the vines exploded into life. Warmth, rain and mild nights gave way to magnificient flowering and wild growth, creating the right conditions for the plant kingdom to express itself (including fungi). The weather conditions at the beginning of the summer allowed good vegetative growth of the berries.

- Yield: 15 hL/ha
- Estimated production: 3,500 bottles

In comparison to Croix Cardinale, Révélation de Croix Cardinale 2023 displays a more prominent presence of oaky aromas, reduction notes, and tannic strength. However, it also lacks some of the gentleness I anticipated. The mid-palate spices are robust, and the limestone terroir characteristics at the finish are unmistakable. If it could integrate more voluptuousness within its substantial framework, I believe it would shine even brighter.

Couleur sombre et pourpre. Nez intense, au fruité mûr et très frais. Caressant en entrée de bouche, juteux au milieu, le vin évolue séveux, avec de la classe dans le déroulé, un corps moyen et une bonne longueur.

A blend of 90% Merlot and 5% each of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc coming from two separate parcels (as well as the press of the Grand Vin), the 2023 Révélation De Croix Cardinale is deep ruby/plum-hued with a lovely, medium-bodied style in its red and black fruits, spicy herbs, and tobacco-like aromas and flavors. This charming, soft, supple red has beautiful tannins and a great finish.

It comes bounding out with eager-to-please notes of Morello cherries and juicy strawberries, plus suggestions of dried Provence herbs, cinnamon, and wet slate. The medium-bodied palate is bright and breezy, with soft tannins and a lifted finish. "

Joli nez fruité, gourmand et qui offre du moelleux en fraicheur, un joli texturé ainsi que de la densité en fraicheur. On y retrouve des notes de petits fruits mûrs et plus légèrement de camphre associées à des touches de petits bleus mûrs, à une subtile pointe de bleuet, à une discrète pointe de poivre frais, de badiane ainsi qu’à de très discrètes pointes presque barrière méditerranéenne et à une pointe très discrètement rôtie. La bouche est joliment juteuse, pulpeuse, gourmande et offre de l’éclat, une trame acidulée, de la tension ainsi que de la justesse. En bouche ce vin exprime des notes de mûre juteuse/pulpeuse, de framboise éclatante et plus légèrement de petits fruits rouges brillants associées à une touche de petites baies bleues fraiches ainsi qu’à des pointes de badiane, de vanille et de toasté-frais. Les tannins sont moelleux et gourmands. Jolie fraicheur en ampleur.

The 2023 Revelation de Croix Cardinale is a tasty, fruity second wine to drink now and over the next decade or so. Succulent red cherry, plum, mocha, new leather and spice build nicely in this creamy, open-knit Saint-Émilion.

The 2023 Révélation de Croix Cardinale has a light bouquet with a brambly red fruit and touches of graphite and tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins-quite elegant, with dark berry and a dab of tobacco on the finish. This is pretty for a second wine, and I expect that it will represent good value. Drink it over five or six years.
