  • 23% Cabernet Franc
  • 10% Cabernet Sauvignon

CLIMATOLOGY

The winter of 2023 saw a period of cool weeks, with little rain from mid-January onwards. The buds gently burst at the end of March without any real fear of the frost, which was short and early. In spring, the vines exploded into life. Warmth, rain and mild nights gave way to magnificient flowering and wild growth, creating the right conditions for the plant kingdom to express itself (including fungi). The weather conditions at the beginning of the summer allowed good vegetative growth of the berries.

  • From 19 September to 4 October 2023
  • Yield: 15 hL/ha
  • Production: 10,000 bottles of second wine

Despite employing the “Fermentation Intégrale” technique, this wine maintains a consistently smooth texture, devoid of any superfluous expressions or excessive forcefulness from start to finish. It enters the palate with richness and sweetness, with powdery tannins gradually spreading from the mid-palate, gently coating the taste buds. The delicate and pure aromas of salted plums and candied bayberries evoke a peculiar sensation of “Sucré Salé” when held in the mouth.

Attractive notes of blackberries and chocolate with fine, supple tannins and medium body. Smooth and poised with quite a delicate, silky finish.

The second wine from this estate, the 2023 Intuition De Fleur Cardinale is based mostly on Merlot and brought up in foudre and demi-muids. It’s another incredibly charming, delicious second wine in the vintage, offering ripe raspberry and blackberry fruit as well as some spicy, herbal, and floral nuances. Medium-bodied, soft, supple, and beautifully balanced, it will drink well right out of the gate.

"A blend of 56% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, the Intuition de Fleur Cardinale 2023 has a deep garnet-purple color. It rolls out with expressive notes of stewed plums and blackberries, plus hints of Sichuan pepper, black olives, and charcoal. The medium-bodied palate delivers a good amount of fruit, with approachable tannins and a spicy kick on the finish. "

VERT DE VIN, JONATHAN CHOUKROUN CHICHEPORTICHE

Le nez est joliment pulpeux/fruité. On y retrouve des notes de prune pulpeuse, de violette et plus légèrement de cerise pulpeuse/fraiche associées à des touches de badiane, à une pointe finement toastée ainsi qu’à de fines pointes de tabac blond frais et une très discrète pointe florale / subtilement séveuse. La bouche est joliment minérale, fruitée, éclatante, précise et offre une jolie définition. En bouche ce vin exprime des notes de cassis pulpeux, de myrtille pulpeuse et plus légèrement de bleuet associées à des touches de cerise ainsi qu’à des pointes de toasté et à une subtile pointe d’amande. Un joli pulpeux/juteux, de la gourmandise. Un joli petit moelleux sur la fin de bouche/persistance.

The 2023 Intuition de Fleur Cardinale is packed with dark plum fruit, mocha, chocolate, sage and new leather. Time in the glass brings out strong Cabernet Franc signatures that open the aromatics nicely. This is a terrific and highly enjoyable second wine.
