WEATHER CONDITIONS

The winter of 2023 saw a period of cool weeks, with little rain from mid-January onwards. The buds gently burst at the end of March without any real fear of the frost, which was short and early. In spring, the vines exploded into life. Warmth, rain and mild nights gave way to magnificient flowering and wild growth, creating the right conditions for the plant kingdom to express itself (including fungi). The weather conditions at the beginning of the summer allowed good vegetative growth of the berries.

Second wine of Fleur Cardinale Blanc, harvest August 25 to September 12, because there is Sémillon in this one compared to the first wine, and you feel a richer feel through the mid palate, giving a little less steel but still a delicious, well balanced wine with clear citrus freshness. Fermentation in Burgundy barrels with no new oak. Ludovic Decoster owner and winemaker, 42hl/h yields, 2,4ha plot, on the less for 9 months. Conversion to organic farming started in 2021,

The 2023 Intuition De Fleur Cardinale Blanc is a blend of close to equal parts Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris, and Semillon and has a fresh, pure, clean nose of white peach and honeyed citrus as well as medium-bodied richness and depth on the palate. This supple, round, soft white will shine on the dinner table.

The 2023 white Intuition de Fleur Cardinale features notes of lime blossoms and lemon tart which spill from the glass, followed by hints of chalk dust and yuzu. The medium-bodied palate is crisp and delicately styled, with a chalky finish.

Joli nez fruité, frais, minéral et tendu. On y retrouve des notes de kumquat, de fleurs blanches sucrées et plus légèrement de zestes sucrés associées à de fines touches de pamplemousse ainsi qu’à de discrètes pointes de kumquat et à une subtile pointe de toasté-frais. La bouche est joliment juteuse, fruitée, fraiche, élégante et offre un côté gastronomique, une jolie minéralité, une subtile pointe iodée ainsi qu’une trame acidulée. En bouche ce vin exprime des notes de pamplemousse rose frais/juteux, de nectarine juteuse/pulpeuse et plus légèrement de kumquat frais associées à des touches de pêche de vigne écrasée ainsi qu’à une pointe de quénette et de toasté-frais. Bonne longueur. Une subtile pointe presque tannique dans l’aromatique en fin de buche/persistance.
